BOCma Cookies (Bucket of Cookies, Massachusetts)
Twitter: @laststance
BOCma was launched in August 2016 by Judy Nguyen from her home kitchen in Malden, MA. BOCma takes the bones of Nguyen’s all-time favorite cookie recipe James Beard award-winning Christina Tosi’s Blueberry & Cream cookies; Nguyen adds her own special touch, pulling from a refined yet wacky, knowledgeable palate. Candy may be Tosi’s wheelhouse, but Nguyen paints with a brush all her own.

PRICING
One cookie for $2
Three cookies for $5
Six cookies for $10
One “batch” of cookies (approximately 20 cookies) for $35
Two “batches” (approximately 20 cookies) for $70
Batches will vary from 16-26 cookies given their handmade nature. All custom batches begin with the same quantity by weight of any ingredients listed in a recipe. Grab Bag “batches” will include at least twenty cookies. I’ll top things off as I see fit.
Custom orders are currently limited to two batches of cookies at a time while I’ll usually freely sell three batches of Grab Bag at a time. Anything larger is up to my discretion. If quantity is very important and you don’t mind baking the cookies off yourself, there is a $5/batch discount for raw, unfrozen cookie dough.
SIGNATURE FLAVORS
Not all flavors may be available at any given time. For the moment, I’m working with the standard freezer section of an average home refrigerator, and I certainly don’t live off of cookies alone. When ordering, provide a list of preferences and quantities for each and we’re sure to figure something out.
If you’re bold, leave the choices up to me. Let me know your likes and dislikes, and if you’re open to anything, you are in for a ride.
1} MFing Jungle
MFJ with its base of cocoa and matcha is probably the most 420-friendly cookie of them all. Certainly enjoyable for the teetotaler as well, salty macadamia nuts, sweet cranberries, and tangy mango round out this cookie.

2} Matcha Butterscotch
A very Zen cookie? Om?

3} Green Mango & Pine Nut
I dunno if pine nuts even grow in the Tropics, but it tastes like it should.

4} El Hombre

Against chocolatey notes from Guittard 63% and cocoa, there are punctuations of Pequin chile flakes. Peanut butter or butterscotch (depending on what’s in the pantry that day) adds a necessary creaminess to the confection.

5} HRH (Her Royal Highness)
One friend of mine describes this cookie as Thanksgiving in a cookie probably due to the addition of cranberries to this cookie. Lavender shares similarities too with rosemary and thyme, but I think it also adds a crumbling effect very similar to shortbread. At high tea perhaps? Guittard 63% adds its own floral notes.

6} The OC (Oatmeal Cookie or Is It?)
Chipotle and cocoa in this cookie recall different spices from a very familiar cookie. Cranberry and peanut butter or butterscotch are easy body doubles for raisins. I don’t know where the phantom oats are coming from. I’ll let you ponder that.

7} Nuclear War
The title of this cookie comes from a 2002 EP from Yo La Tengo that features 4 separate iterations on covering a Sun Ra tune. I can’t claim I’m the one that dreamed up the Cheetos and white chocolate combination (see Macaron Parlour in the East Village), but believe me, it works for some people.
One girl thought the Cheetos in this cookie were macadamia nuts.

8} Karen
“Karen, put me in a chair, f--k me and make me a drink/I've lost direction, and I'm past my peak.”
An early (circa 2005) anti-love song from the man who does them the best, Matt Berninger. I saw him pull this out once on the last show of the US High Violet tour at the Beacon Theater. He said he doesn’t play it much anymore because it breaks his heart, even married with children and all get out.
Like this titular Karen, the cookie runs borderline too hot with all its 5-spice blend and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. But when you’re in love, even if it’s otherwise outright torture, there is sweetness to all that pain. IOW, currants and cocoa.

9} Roxanne
Now I realize I could’ve gone in an entirely different direction and name this cookie after a TLC song on the same topic, but that seemed a little crass. Roxanne is studded with “Slim Jims” since apparently the legit thing doesn’t come in a spicy flavor anymore; they assume we can make due with Green Tabasco flavor for some reason.
“Red Hots” (also shockingly enough only easily procured from cake-decorating stores and Amazon) add another layer of heat and sweetness. While sumac adds a needed touch of astringency to this corset-busting tale.

10} Fugazi
York peppermint patties and Junior Mints always had this strange sweetness (I know we’re talking about candy here!) that I could never really place until I developed this cookie. Final Answer: Cardamom. Hand-crushed in a molcajete.  Ooh…

The original Oreo Thins I threw in because damn if I don’t love me a mint Oreo Thins cookie. Which I could probably scarf down in 48 hours if you let me.
